Description of the walk

Park in the car park on the left, after the railway bridge (anglers’ car park).

(S/E) Retrace your steps and go through the tunnel in the embankment, then take the path on the left, without going down to the lake, so as not to disturb the anglers. Walk round the lake to its south-eastern end.

(1) Turn left, cross the bridge and continue towards the Drôme.

(2) Turn left to climb up onto the riverbank, then right to follow the river. Small paths (there and back) allow you to admire the river all along this route.

(3) After the footbridge, turn right onto a path that leads back towards the lake. At the south-western end of the lake, turn left onto the path towards the observatory.

(4) After your visit, return to the path, then take the first path on the right (hard to spot) which starts behind a small fence. This path crosses the nature reserve and leads onto a stony track which you follow to the right until you reach the railway line. Before reaching it, turn right and head back to the car park (S/E).

Intrigued by the lack of comments and the absence of photos, I decided to give it a go.
On arriving at the car park, it was clear that the place is very popular, and I passed a good twenty or so people on this short route.
Despite everything, it’s interesting, fairly well-maintained and a nice change of scenery. The highlight for me is the stretch along the banks of the Drôme and its lovely colours.
Note at point 3: don’t turn right immediately after the footbridge, but follow the route back towards the Drôme before turning right.
Lots of possible variations – it’s great

A lovely little spot when the weather’s warm. Beautiful views of the ponds and the River Drôme.
