Tour of Capo di Feno from Villanova

Park on the right-hand side of the D261 after Villanova Town Hall, heading towards Golfe di Lava.

(S/E) Continue straight ahead to reach the path at the first bend that descends to the right.

(1) Continue straight down the gentle slope through the woods: the first view of the Corsican mountains is behind you on the right. You will reach the magnificent Fica di l'Orsu fountain.

(2) Continue straight ahead to reach Bocca di Marcuggio: the first threshing area.

(3) Go around the threshing floor (two large circles of stones) on the right and follow the path on the left at the fork that you will soon come to. Continue through scrubland with small bushes until you reach the next clearing: steep climb.

(4) Turn right to reach Punta di l'Avena.

(5) Descend back to the clearing.

(4) Resume the route on the right. Continue through dense scrubland with a series of ascents and descents to reach thenext area at Bocca di Marcuggiolu.

(6) Opposite the threshing floor, continue along the path that climbs through the scrub to Punta di Marinaccia, where there are numerous viewpoints.

(7) Begin the descent towards Punta di a Coggia until you reach the next clearing. Stay on the ridge throughout the entire route.

(8) Take the path that climbs up opposite where the dense scrub begins again. This path turns and descends to the right before reaching another clearing.

(9) Continue straight ahead, keeping the scrub on your left, to reach another clearing.

(10) Continue straight ahead, keeping the scrub on your right, and descend to the Capo di Feno Tower.

(11) Return via the same route in reverse to the starting point (S/E).

Please note that this hike, which is theoretically easy, is made quite difficult by the lack of maintenance and the fact that the trail has been abandoned for many years. It is recommended that you follow the trail and instructions carefully to avoid getting lost. Long trousers and a long-sleeved jacket are mandatory: the dense, sometimes tall, thorny scrub prevents passage, so bring pruning shears.

Walking in these conditions is challenging, especially in direct sunlight (it is best to set off early in the morning). It is recommended that you bring plenty of water and food as the sun is very strong.

Wear good shoes and bring walking sticks.
Hats and sunglasses are essential, as the sun is very strong at the seaside!
Binoculars, cameras and video cameras are essential.
But don't forget a fleece, as the wind is cool in winter and spring.

The experience of rediscovering a forgotten trail is exhilarating.

The presence of numerous threshing areas bears witness to intense human activity in the past.
