Swanpool to Maenporth

A coastal path walk to one of the best coves on the south coast of Cornwall, Maenporth. Where the golden sands meet the crystal clear waters. The path passes a memorial dedicated to the local home guard. Although returning the same way, there is an option to take the route across the golf course, offering a different perspective.

Notes

Start: This walk's starting point, - W3W >>>

Transport: There is a bus service passing by Swanpool. Timings of the buses should be confirmed, allowing for the return trip.

Parking: Vehicle parking - free parking between 1 November and 31 March - pay to stay all other times.

Timing: The time taken is estimated to allow extra time for exploring and personal pace.

Note: Ensure that the highway code is followed and that dogs are kept under control.

Wellbeing: Wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the conditions. Although this is only a short walk, always keep hydrated.

Accessibility: There is a gate; the coastal path can become slippery when wet.

Refreshments: Cafe at Maenporth, seasonal variations and times may apply.

Option: This is virtually a there-and-back route with the option to walk across the golf course.

Note: Option (2) is the route across the golf course. As a designated footpath, the golf course maintains 'safe passage' for walkers. However, walkers should be mindful of 'play' in the areas, and the word 'four' is used by a golfer if there is a wayward ball. If heard, it is best to cover the head and duck.

Worth a visit

(B) The memorial is dedicated to the many workers, during WW2, from the local dockyard who did their shift during the day, maintaining the fleet, and then spent the night guarding the coastline from any potential invasion.

The maritime history associated with Falmouth from the Packet Ships, the 'King's Pipe', and the start of the Trafalgar Way, to name a few.
