(S/E) Park in the car park at the start of the path leading to the Mer de Glace climbing site, next to the picnic tables. Take the main path that climbs slightly in front of you.
(1) At the tarmac road, turn right at an acute angle and continue along the tarmac road slightly to the right (do not take the main path that climbs opposite, which is the return route). Continue along the dirt track that extends it (GRP® du Bassin d'Annonay). Stay on the main path, leaving Raoulet on your right, then, further on, Gerlande on your left.
(2) Stay on this same, fairly flat path when it turns into a hairpin bend below the hamlet of Gacou. Then leave the marked trail and continue straight ahead. Stay on this wide, shaded path. After about 1.5km of gentle climbing, you will come to a large deforested area and the ruins of Lavaux on your right.
Stay on this wide path and, after a short climb with a bend, you will reach the plateau with a beautiful, unobstructed view. Continue for a few metres and, on your left on the descent, you will see a path leading uphill.
(3) Follow this pretty little narrow path to the end, which climbs along the knoll of la Pinée and then descends to a wide dirt track.
(4) Turn left onto this flat path. At the edge of the woods, pass under an abandoned house: Rantaux. Continue straight ahead. After the descent, walk alongside the horse paddocks on your left with a "private property" sign.
(5) Leave the path when it turns at a right angle to your right and take the path in front of you marked "private road". The owner kindly allows respectful pedestrians to pass. Follow this path to the end, enjoying the panoramic view of the valleys, and after a descent along a barbed wire fence.
(6) Turn right and after a descent on tarmac, take the tarmac road on your right. Continue downhill and just before you reach a new house, turn left.
(7) Just before the hamlet of Poinas, turn left and follow the signs for Annonay (red and yellow markings) on a small path overlooking the Vallée de la Vocance road. Three-quarters of the way down a steep and very stony descent, turn right at an acute angle onto the small grassy path that borders the horse paddocks.
(8) Follow it to the end: it leads to a small tarmac road, which you take on your left.
(9) After the bridge and a wide bend, take the small tarmac road that climbs steeply to your left.
(10) At the top, turn right and follow the low wire fence of the house along the dirt track that will take you back to your starting point.
(1) All you have to do now is take the same path as on the way there to return to the car park (S/E).
