Description of the walk

Park at Stratford Park and Ride CV37 0RJ. From the car park, go onto Bishopton Way and go right, over the railway and past a roundabout to the Canal bridge.

(1) Go right and continue on the towpath to bridge 56.

(2) Turn right to take the tarmac lane to the main road and go left on the grass verge past Hill Farm entrance and cross the road to a double wooden gate.

(3)Through the gate the path goes across the middle of a field, joining a path along the side of the woods, then enters the woods and winds through to a footpath junction. Go right and follow downhill to pass through the buildings at Cutler's Farm.

(4) Turn right at a wall mounted mirror, follow the drive through open fields to a junction with the drive leading left to the road.

(5) Go right on Langley Road and left into the gateway opposite Newhouse Farm Business Centre. Cross the railway and go through a gap to continue with the hedge on your left, go under power lines and when the track reaches Bearley continue on School Lane to the postbox and noticeboard.

(6) When you have reached Snitterfield Road, take Church Lane to the right of the church. Fork left, then follow the road right at Bearley farm past cottages on your right.

(7) Go left into the road signed "No Vehicles" and go straight on past the Old Granary. Do not take the footpath gate to your right but go to the gate ahead marked Woodlane Farm and follow the lane until it reaches open fields with new tree planting. Follow the grassy path in the direction of a radio mast which bends right uphill by a wire fence to a yellow post and continues towards a red brick house.

(8) Ignore the sign and stile at the rear of the house/caravans, it is overgrown and impassable. Go left along the fence/hedge towards the radio mast and reach the road at a white house to the right of the mast. Turn left on this road, continue until you have passed pass a red postbox.

(9) Go left into The Green signed Snitterfield. Just past the 30mph signs, go right into a lane of new houses and at the end go right on a path behind garden fences and continue uphill to the road and a gate to your left. Go right on the road over the A46 bridge and turn right into Kings Lane.

(10) Just before the Give Way 150 Yards sign, take the drive left and the gate right marked Monarch's Way through The Farm visitor centre. Monarch's Way is well signposted from here to Stratford.

(11) Turn left for a short diversion to/from the Obelisk and viewpoint. Then, go back to the Monarch's Way and go left to continue.

(12) Monarch's Way leads into Stratford on Maidenhead road. At the canal bridge, you can go right on the towpath to return to the start, or go straight on to the town centre.(S/E)
