Soum des Salettes from Piau Engaly

Take the D118 to Piau Engaly and park in the large car park north of the resort.

(S/E) From the car park, take the wide path heading west and running alongside the Neste de Badet.

(1) About 250 m further on, take the small path on the right down to the Neste de Badet to reach a footbridge crossing the stream. Once on the other side, take the path on the left passing by the Cabane de Moune. The path then heads south-west, then south, running below the peaks of Estaragne and Campbieil.

(2) At Lac des Vaches, take the path on the right heading west.

(3) At an altitude of approximately 2,226 metres, where the landscape becomes much more rocky, continue straight ahead over the scree towards the west. The path becomes steeper and winds its way up to the Port de Campbieil.

(4) Turn left south onto the ridge path climbing to the summit of Soum des Salettes. The path winds through scree, staying on the ridge, then gently veers off to the west. The ridge does not present any major difficulties apart from a slightly steep slope and a few small passages where you will need to use your hands.

(5) From the summit, retrace your steps to return to Lac des Vaches.

(2) Take the path on the right, descending south-east towards Lac Badet to reach a footbridge before a shepherd's hut.

(6) Cross the footbridge, then turn right heading south to reach Lac de Badet.

(7) Turn around and cross the footbridge again.

(6) Turn right immediately after the footbridge to take the path north along the Neste de Badet.

(8) Cross another footbridge on the right, then turn left onto the wide path leading back to the car park (S/E).
