Shepreth Station to Meldreth Station

(S) Leave Shepreth Station through the car park and head down Station Road.

(1) When you reach the Village Hall, turn right on Meldreth Road, then immediately left on High Street.

(2) Follow the road round, and after the turn to the church on the right take the footpath on the left (South-East).

(3) Follow the footpath with the stream on your left-hand side all the way to the A10, where you turn right down the cycle path.

(4) Past Dunsbridge Business Park, cross the A10 at the traffic island and walk down Dunsbridge Turnpike. When you reach the Green Man pub, turn left onto the footpath with the river on your left-hand side. Follow the footpath along by the river until you meet the road at Fowlmere.

(5) Turn right and walk along the road until the road goes round to the right - look for the stile in the hedge on the left and cross onto the Kingsway Golf Course. Follow the line of the hedge along the right edge of the golf course until you reach the road, then cross into the field opposite and walk across to the far corner (South-West) until you reach another road (Cambridge Road).

(6) Turn left and join the Melbourn cycle path. Follow the road all the way through the village of Melbourn, past the Hub, a community cafe, and turn right by the church, along Station road.

(7) Look for the footpath on the right just after a bridge, and follow it under an underpass A10) and straight ahead (North - North-West) across the field to Meldreth station.
If you are going back to Shepreth or Cambridge, you will need to cross the tracks on the footbridge to Platform 2. (E)

Transportation : Shepreth Station is unmanned and Meldreth Station is only manned in the morning.

Facilities : Refreshments and toilets can be found at the Green Man in Shepreth, the Jamaica Blue cafe at the golf course, and at the Hub in Melbourn.

• Shepreth station in Station Road serves the village of Shepreth. It is operated by Great Northern and served by trains between London King’s Cross and Cambridge. Trains run half-hourly on weekdays and hourly at weekends. There is a free station car park, and a ticket machine located in the car park. Trains on weekdays go to Cambridge from around 06:30 to 01:00 and to London from around 06:00 to 23:30. There is also a regular service at weekends.

• Meldreth station serves the villages of Meldreth and Melbourn. It can be accessed from the High Street in Meldreth and by footpath from Station Road in Melbourn. It is operated by Great Northern and served by trains between London King’s Cross and Cambridge. Trains run half-hourly on weekdays and hourly at weekends. There is a car park. The ticket office is open on Monday-Friday 07:00-11:15, Saturday 08:45-13:15 and closed on Sunday. There is a self-service machine which takes cash and credit cards. Tickets can be collected from counter or from the machine which is located near the entrance to the car park on platform 2. There is a wheelchair ramp leading to platform 2 for trains to Cambridge but no wheelchair access to platform 1 for trains to London. The car park has disabled parking. When the ticket office is open (Monday to Saturday mornings) there is access to a waiting room, public telephone and toilets. Trains on weekdays go to Cambridge from around 06:30 to 01:00 and to London from around 06:00 to 23:30. There is also a regular service at weekends.
