Parking at the foot of the village.
(S/E) From the car park, facing the tower, head towards the light ochre house and take the porch to the right of the hiking signpost. Turn right into the street that crosses the medieval village.
You will come to a square, turn right and follow the road downhill, passing the town hall, then Saint-Étienne Church and the cemetery. Continue to the hairpin bend, keeping a farm building on your left.
(1) Leave the tarmac and follow the shady path lined with white oak trees beneath the basalt cliffs of the Coiron. Note the spring with a water reservoir for watering a small vegetable garden that is still in use. You will come to pastures dotted with large volcanic rock blocks at a place called Les Rochers.
(2) When you reach a junction of three small roads, turn left and tackle a fairly steep climb to the pylon.
(3) There is a splendid view of Villeneuve-de-Berg, Saint-Jean-le-Centenier and the troglodyte caves of Montbrun. On a clear day, you can see the Trois Becs du Vercors and Mont Ventoux. Continue along this small road overlooking the valley until you reach a recess in the cliff.
(4) Take care as you make a short return trip to the edge of the cliff to see the façade of a troglodyte house (Grotte du Baumier), which was still inhabited until recently.
Return to the road and turn left at the next junction to reach the tower.
(5) Since September 2016, access to the tower has been protected by fencing erected by a new owner who lives here in the summer. Go to the edge to admire the rooftops of Mirabel.
Returning to the road, go down opposite: 20 metres further on, a white and yellow sign on a road sign invites you to take the path on your left.
(6) You will come to some basalt columns; then take the small path on the left which will take you to the village. At the three-way junction, turn right.
Stroll through the narrow streets that lead to the main road you took at the start and return to the car park (S/E).
