Saprée Vadrouille in the footsteps of Saint Déodat in Saint-Dié

With the Jubilee Year of Hope, since November 2024, our Catholic Church in the Vosges has developed a proposal: "Saprée Vadrouille, travel journal for paths of hope", with three issues per year focusing on liturgical times and the saints of the Vosges.
Several itineraries are proposed in the Vosges as local pilgrimages and paths of hope. This is an opportunity to rediscover our region and our local saints throughout the Vosges department. Each itinerary can be done independently of the others, at any time of year.
"In the footsteps of Saint Déodat" is the route proposed in the very first "Saprée Vadrouille", which you can discover here.

Description of the walk

Follow the route described in the PDF file available for download in the practical information section. A few parking spaces are available on the street leading to the Saint-Déodat Chapel.

(S/E) From the Chapelle Saint-Déodat, turn right then left to reach a road. Follow Rue du Petit Saint-Dié on the right and continue to the railway bridge.

(1) Cross the bridge, then keep left on Rue Louis Pasteur. Follow this road to the end and turn left onto Rue d'Alsace to reach Saint-Martin Church.

(2) After entering Saint-Martin Church, follow the street until you cross the Meurthe River. At the roundabout, go straight ahead and continue along Rue Thiers until you reach the cathedral.

(3) Enter the cathedral and go to the cloister, exiting on the north side of the cathedral. Go to the opposite side of the cloister to reach Notre-Dame-de-Galilée Church.

(4) Return to the cathedral forecourt via the same route. Once on the forecourt, turn left and return to the Saint-Déodat Chapel via the reverse route (S/E).
