The Monoblet twin peaks
Hike in the foothills of the Cévennes in a heath landscape with beautiful views of two characteristic hills: the Rouquette and Saint-Chamant peaks.
The difficulty can be adjusted: each summit can be climbed on a short round trip.
I recommend taking a break for a snack at the summit of Saint-Chamant.
The Fage mountain
This moderately difficult hike offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and Saint-Roman de Codières from the ridge of the Montagne de la Fage.
The hamlet of Cézas and the Priory of Saint-Martin
The hamlet of Cézas, in the commune of Sumène, clings to an altitude of 650 m between the Cagnasses and Fage mountains, in the heart of a national forest. This short mid-mountain route alternates between numerous shaded passages and views of the Cévennes and beyond. On the way, a visit to the 12th-century Priory of Saint-Martin is a must, offering a peaceful spot for a picnic.
Mont Haut and Ermitage du Bois de Monnier
Mont Haut, isolated between the Alzon valley and the Pompignan plain, offers breathtaking views of the entire Cévennes region as far as the Aigoual massif. Hidden away in its holm oak woods is a hermitage, a true haven of peace.
The Col des Fosses and La Rouvrière at the start of Colognac
Situated at an altitude of 600 m, on the foothills of the Cévennes, Colognac is a village with typical Cévennes character. The lush vegetation of the meadows, chestnut trees and oaks contrasts sharply with the arid heath. We are in the mountains. From the Col des Fosses (900 m), the views stretch northwards over the Borgne valley as far as the Barre des Cévennes, and south-westwards over the Viganais and beyond. At the start, the Mouleyrette mill is a little gem.
The wonderful garden of the Sauvains
Hike along the Mer de Rochers trail, discover the old village and climb up to a limestone plateau dotted with rocky outcrops and covered with heath-type vegetation, which offers some beautiful views. On the outskirts of the village of Sauve, men once cultivated plots of land and a legend was born.
Mer des Rochers
A journey through both geological time and history, exploring the medieval village of Sauve and the chaos of the Mer des Rochers.
Circular walk from the Chapel of Sainte-Croix-de-Caderle
A circular route starting from the car park at the spinning mill in Lasalle, heading towards Sainte-Croix-de-Caderle and its magnificent chapel via the Col de l’Oursine. Return via Calviac and Saint-Bonnet-de-Salendrinque. Mainly through woodland, you’ll still enjoy plenty of magnificent views. Places to see: Le Sollier and Le Castellas castles, the chapel of Sainte-Croix-de-Cadelre, the Menhir at a drystone shelter, the Salendrinque river and the spinning mills of Lasalle.
Circular loop from Lasalle, via Colognac and Soudorgues
A circular loop following only GR® trails. We start on the GR®63 to reach Colognac. Then we take the GR®6 and 67 to the Col de l’Asclier, with superb views all along this gradual climb, before taking the GR®61 and then the GR®63 again to Lasalle. Camp Barrat (13) is a perfect spot for a picnic; situated at an altitude of 920 m, it offers views stretching from the sea to the Monts de Lozère. The 270° view from the summit of the Col du Fageas is superb too. However, it is a demanding route, with a significant elevation gain, even if it is gradual and without any particular difficulty. The steep descents are even more challenging, with numerous stones requiring constant attention, particularly after the Col du Fageas on the way to the Col de l’Asclier, though this section can be avoided. Another demanding descent follows the Col de la Mortière.
The Gorniés Spring
A beautiful walk for the whole family that leads to a spring through the heath.
Le balcon et le lapiaz du Thaurac
A short family hike offering panoramic views of the village of Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois and the Gorges de l'Hérault. The climb is steep but short.
The Dolmens of the Grande Pallières
A short hike in shade to discover no less than five Neolithic dolmens, including the four dolmens of the Grande Pallières site.
Coutach Forest from Corconnes
A beautiful hike through the Coutach Forest, among lush vegetation and mossy rocks that create an atmosphere of coolness and mystery. After a short detour to the chapel overlooking the rocky chaos, you then reach the ridge where you can enjoy the views stretching as far as the eye can see, before beginning the descent to the old Corconnes path.
See the practical information for a medium-difficulty alternative route.
The Grotte de Pagès and the Roc de la Chapelle
On the heights of the Doucette valley, discover a Camisarde cave, the Grotte de Pagès, then climb to the Roc de la Chapelle, a sheer drop overlooking the Boisseson valley, before descending to the banks of the Gardon de Saint-Jean.
The vineyards of Corconne and the Pont des Cammaous
This hike crosses the Corconne vineyards. The name of this vineyard is Gravette de Corconne. The hike is not particularly difficult. On the way, you pass near the medieval Cammaous Bridge.
