Park on the large esplanade in front of the Auberge du Raddon.
Yellow Ring markings
(S/E) Leave the car park and carefully follow the D18 to the left towards Fougerolles. At the roundabout, head towards the stadium and continue to the sports hall.
(1) Take the path on the left which climbs behind the gym and continue through the forest to Étang Trésurier.
(2) Turn right, keeping the pond on your left. At the junction, turn right to discover the Pierre du Mouton.
(3) Retrace your steps and continue along the path opposite. Ignore the side paths and you’ll reach the Pierre de la Miche.
(4) Immediately after, take the path on the left, then at the next four-way junction, turn right at a 90° angle to reach Étang de la Rémolure.
(5) At the end of the pond, follow the embankment to the left, continue along the marked path and pass in front of an old lime kiln.
Unmarked
On leaving the woods, continue straight ahead to reach the RD18.
(6) Continue to the right and take the path on the right 100 m before the bridge. Continue alongside the stream until you reach a Fork in the road: the path may be muddy in wet weather.
(7) Turn left and head towards a stone cross (Croix Mathey) just before the stream. Cross the stream and take the path that climbs up to the left. Immediately at a fork, take the path on the left that climbs diagonally up the slope before reaching the ridge. Several paths criss-cross here: choose the most passable one leading to the D18. Climb back up to the ridge and cross the road to reach the Pierre des Gaulois.
(8) Continue along the ridge. Several well-maintained paths (fitness trail) lead off in a south-westerly direction: take the one furthest to the left, which runs slightly to the left of the ridge, returning to it before reaching a small tarmac road: numerous picnic tables are situated around a large car park.
(9) Cross the car park, head down to the left to the entrance of the wildlife park and follow the fence on the right. After about 400 m, look out for a path branching off to the right, where the fence makes a sharp angle to the left: this is the return route. For now, continue along the fence and, 130 m further on, take the path on the right leading to the Pierre du Sacrifice.
(10) Retrace your steps and take the path on the left opposite the bend in the fence. You’ll soon reach the small tarmac road; turn right to return to the car park/picnic area.
(9) Head back towards the wildlife park. Pass the path leading to the arboretum on your left, then veer left onto a path that goes round it. Keep left at the three-way junction that appears immediately and continue along the main path.
(11) At the fork in the road just after the bridge, turn left. Continue along this path to the hamlet of La Plancenaye. Walk through it and you’ll reach a crossroads.
Markings: Yellow Rings
(12) Turn right into the forest. Follow this wide, almost straight track.
(13) Turn left with the track and continue until you reach a crossroads.
(14) Turn left, then take the first turn left then right.
(15) Cross the Route Forestière des Grandes Coupes. At the second junction, turn left, ignoring the side paths, and join a road at Champ du Fallot.
(16) Follow it to the right for 80 m, then turn left. Further on, cross a stream and reach a Y-junction.
(17) Turn right at the hairpin bend and head towards the hamlet of La Cubette.
(18) Continue right at the T-junction, cross the meadow and enter the forest. You will reach the ponds, hidden by the vegetation, at a place called Le Calechot.
(19) At the fork in the road, continue straight ahead into the forest and keep going until you reach the car park at Raddon-et-Chapendu (S/E).
