A beautiful day that began with the steep slope from the previous day. Be careful with the snow, we missed the fork for the Col de Salenton and climbed 200 m too far before having to turn back in the snowfields under the sun :-)
A very pretty flat section with exceptional views of Mont Blanc. We didn't regret doing this trek just for the view, which is impossible to get on the very busy Tour du Mont Blanc!
We crossed the Trail du Tour des Fiz at the Anterne refuge and then went swimming in Lake Anterne (not very warm!). In general, I don't think there are many people on this route, except on that day.
Be careful at the junction at point 9. With all the people and our running friends to find, we (again!) missed the path, which wasn't signposted at all...
We retraced our steps, a long, fairly flat section, and began the descent to the Fonts refuge. It was a really long, hot and humid descent. Not very pleasant because the altitude is low and there are lots of mosquitoes.
It was a long day on our legs and we were glad to arrive. The refuge was very welcoming, set apart from a small hamlet. The meal was good (even if we overdid it a bit on the diots and crozets!). The budget was £100 for two in the refuge with the picnic.
