Stroll from puy to puy around Montlosier
This large circular route around the Maison du Parc des Volcans will take you past fourteen puys, some small and discreet, others more imposing and some very well known and popular. Set off to discover the puys of Vichatel, Charmont, La Toupe, Boursoux, La Combegrasse, La Rodde, L'Enfer, Montchal, Montgy, Montjuger, Pourcharet, Montreillet, Lassolas and La Vache.
Please note: the Montlosier car park will be closed for renovation between August 2025 and 2027. Parking is available along the road or at the Col de la Ventouse rest area (2).
Puy de la Combegrasse
This is a long circular route at the foot of the puys, through forests, fields and pastures, with a climb to the summit of Puy de la Combegrasse for a panoramic view of the Chaîne de Puys and the Monts Dore.

An easy hike with one of the most beautiful panoramic views in the region, overlooking both the Chaîne des Puys and the Sancy Massif. Between May and October, sheep graze on these puys, much to the delight of young and old alike!

From Pessade to Mont-Dore
Stage 3 of the "Between Puy de Sancy and Monts Dore" route.
A very pretty stage, starting with a route at the bottom of the valley and ending with passages along the ridges of the various puys before Mont-Dore.
Saint-Genès bourg - Laschamps via the pass between Mercœur and Lassolas
This fourth stage marks the beginning of a wilder route that leads to the foot of the puys, through mountain pastures and woods. It also allows you to discover a pretty village, Beaune le Chaud, which has a beautiful traditional architectural heritage.
From Laschamps to La Cassière
Starting from Laschamps near Puy de Dôme, the route takes you to the village of Beaune le Chaud, then onto theGR®®4andGR®®30to climb the Puy de Lassolas and Puy de la Vache with magnificent panoramic views, before reaching La Cassière and its lake.
Please note: Access to the summits of Puys de la Vache and Lassolas will be closed for works between spring 2026 and early 2028.

Laschamps - Orcines via Puy de Dôme
And finally, here is the fifth stage, marked by the ascent of Puy de Dôme. The route takes the Chemin des Muletiers for the ascent, then the Sentier des Chèvres to descend towards Orcines. There is, of course, a vast panorama from the highest point of this stage, overlooking the city of Clermont-Ferrand, the chain of puys, the Combrailles, the Plateau des Dôme and the Massif du Sancy.
Puy de Dôme - Petit knoll - Le Cliersou - Puy Pariou
A pleasant and easy hike in the Chaîne des Puys. Magnificent views of the Puy de Dôme can be admired.This hike requires two vehicles.Warning! Immediate danger – falling rocks. Due to falling rocks from the cliffs, the Chemin des Muletiers is STRICTLY closed until further notice by municipal decree of the commune of Orcines.
Ceyrat - Saint-Genès village via Chaos de la Faille and Artière
A third, very "geological" stage, allowing you to discover an impressive rock chaos, evidence of the Limagne Fault that borders the Plateau des Dômes, and the small gorges of the Artière. The itinerary also allows you to continue your discovery of Ceyrat with a visit to its second ancient village, Boisséjour.

This route is linked to a quiz walk that allows you to discover the town's iconic sites and learn about its history and heritage in a fun way. Find the "Au fil de nos histoires" poster on the church square and scan the QR code to start the game (free, no registration or app download required).
You can choose the "adult" trail or the "adult + child" trail (with additional questions for children aged 6 to 11).

Royat - Place de Jaude via Rocher du Salut and Chamalières
This seventh and final stage, which is partly urban, allows you to continue exploring Royat, which you started at the end of the previous stage, first in the wooded hills of the town, passing by the Rocher du Salut promontory, then through the streets and park of the spa district, with its beautiful seaside architecture. Finally, the return route to Clermont allows you to discover the centre of Chamalières.
Voissières - Le Mont Dore
A return route to Mont Dore, taking care to avoid the same paths as the previous day.
Beaumont - Ceyrat via Puy de Montrognon
A fairly short second stage between Beaumont and Ceyrat, passing by the pretty Moulin de la Tranchère, a renovated mill on the banks of the Artière, then by the summit of Puy de Montrognon, crowned by a tower that is the remains of a medieval castle.
