Walk in Buron

A walk through an old wine-growing village at the foot of La Motte, a basalt spur supporting the ruins of a feudal castle. Beautiful traditional houses and a pretty chapel to visit to learn about the history of the unfortunate Sir Buron.

Description of the walk

When you arrive at the bottom of the village of Buron via the D136, you will see a small car park next to the recycling bins, at the junction with the road to Parent.

No signposts

(S/E) With your back to the bins, cross the D136 road and take the grassy path opposite that leads uphill. Further up, a few steps lead to the main street of Buron. Follow the street to the left, go to a fountain and then take Impasse de la Fontaine on the right. After a section on a grassy path, you will come to a street. Continue straight ahead to pass to the right of the chapel. You will arrive at the forecourt of the small building. The chapel was open when we visited.

(1) After your visit, continue straight ahead, passing to the right of the cross for a short detour along Rue du Fort, which overlooks the village. Retrace your steps to the cross opposite the chapel and take a sharp right onto Rue des Vignerons. Turn left at the first street and you will come to the village's main street. Continue to the right until you reach the intersection with Rue du Chanvre, which branches off to the right. Then take a sharp left to follow Rue du Fontbuisson.

GRP®® Red and Yellow markings

(2) Opposite the Rue de la Forge street sign, follow Rue du Fontbuisson, which turns right and soon becomes a grassy path (note the red and yellow markings). At the T-junction with a path, turn left and then, at the next junction, turn left again. Continue straight ahead on the road that extends the path and join the D136, following it to the left to reach the car park a hundred metres further on (S/E).
