Description of the walk

Park in the car park at the Col de Prat de Bouc.

(S) At the start, cross the cross-country ski trails several times and head for the top of the Rochers de Chamalieres.

(1) Follow the contour line, passing close to the Puy du Rocher, just above the return pulley of the ski lift at the Pas des Alpins.

(2) Continue the ascent by following the downhill ski run in the opposite direction. Reach the top station of the Plomb du Cantal cable car.

(3) Continue south to reach the summit of the Plomb du Cantal.

(4) Begin the descent, first reaching the previous junction.

(3) Continue the descent, choosing one of the following options:
- the Black trail known as Dujon6,
- the Red run called Bouvet,
- the Blue run called Alpin.

(5) Cross the Alagnon (river)

Finally, return to the vehicle you parked earlier in the Font d’Alagnon car park (E).

Stunning scenery. We followed the route but changed the starting point: after taking the cable car up to Le Plomb du Cantal, we completed a circular route to return to our starting point and took the cable car back down to the station. The path is signposted in yellow all the way. Be careful – there are lots of reckless walkers with dogs amongst the cows on the summer pastures... No mobile signal; impossible to use the app.
