Departure from Gourette station, accessible via the D918 from the Col d'Aubisque or from Les Eaux-Bonnes. Park in the large Cardet car park.
(S/E) Join theGR®10at the end of the car park, passing by a fitness trail and then through a wood.
(1) Leave the footbridge over the Valentin and continue climbing on theGR®10. Long climb along the Valentin, in the shade in the morning.
(2) At the Coste de Goua hut, keep to the far left. There is a beautiful steep climb in the Louesque valley, which you will cross several times to reach the lake.
(3) Leave thefirst Lake Louesque on your left and continue climbing to thesecond lake.
(4) This is followed by a steep climb over scree to reach the ridge.
(5) Continue straight ahead to reach Pic Sanctus (2,482 m).
(6) Enjoy the beautiful panorama of the Pyrenees, Pic de Ger, Vignemale and Gabizos massifs, and Pic du Midi d'Ossau.
Descend, following the ridge at first, before turning left towards the Col d'Uzious.
(7) Then turn right to descend towards Lac du Lavedan and then Lac d'Uzious.
(8) At the end of the lake, and before the start of the penstock (which also descends steeply to Gourette but avoids the old mines, which would be a shame), turn left for a final, slightly steep climb and join theGR® 10.
(9) Take it on the right and follow it all the way down to Gourette via Lac d'Anglas.
(10) Cross the old Anglas iron mines and their remains, which dot the return route.
(11) Pass Lac d'Anglas. Continue the descent to the initial fork.
(2) Take the opposite route to the one you took on the way up, descending opposite to the Cardet car park (S/E).
