The start is in Thonon-les-Bains, at the junction of Chemin des Chênes and Chemin de la Vionnaz (a dead-end road). Access is via the road running alongside the ring road from the roundabout leading to the hospital. Parking is available along the noise barrier.
(S/E) Cross the bridge over the D1005 and continue straight on for about a hundred metres. When the main path turns right, take the dirt track that opens up ahead of you (GR®5) and enter the forest. Leave the path on your right that climbs due south and continue straight ahead, passing the wooden gate.
(1) In a sort of clearing, take the path on the right that climbs uphill, the Chemin de Vionnaz. Continue climbing, keeping to your right, until you reach the Carrefour des Chasseurs.
(2): Take the path climbing south-west to a large crossroads.
(3): At the junction, turn 90° left onto a wide, gently sloping path and continue southwards at first, then east-northeast until you reach the junction of the Chemin des Dames and the Chemin de Chessy.
(4) Continue straight ahead along the slightly sunken path that descends towards the north-east and ignore a turn-off to the left. At the bottom of the descent, stay at the foot of the high embankment on the left (outward route) and do not follow theGR®5marked in white and green which branches off to the right. Continue along the path which leads back to the small clearing.
(1) Go through the gate you passed at the start of the walk, leave the forest and take the small road and the bridge in front of you to return to the starting point (S/E).
