Marly-le-Roi Park

The park is located in Marly-le-Roi and managed by the Public Establishment of the Palace, Museum and National Estate of Versailles. A sloping park on the south bank of the Seine, its lower part overlooks the centre of Marly. To the east, it is very close to the Louveciennes national forest, from which it is separated by the Route de Versailles. It still features the grand alignments of the Louis XIV era, the layout of the château on the ground, and the drinking trough downstream of the park with its two basins topped by copies of the Chevaux de Marly. The royal gate and the gates of the former château, such as the main gate and the Phare gate, protect access to the estate.

Description of the walk

Park in the Jardins de Marly car park in the park.

(S/E) At the car park exit, turn right (south-east), then take a path on the left and walk along the Grand Miroir pond, then go to the end of the park to admire the Chevaux de Marly (copy) at the Abreuvoir de Marly.

(1) Go up the path on the right that runs along the park wall to the Grille Royale.

(2) At the roundabout in front of the Grille Royale, take a path slightly to the right that passes in front of the Ancienne Batterie de Réservoirs and leads to the Chemin des Deux Portes. Follow this path to the right until you reach the next crossroads.

(3) Continue straight ahead for about 500 metres, turn right and take the GR®1 on the left. At the junction with the GRP® Ceinture Verte de l'Ile de France, turn left and take a tarmac path that leads to the Route de Saint-Cyr.

(5) Pass to the right of the cemetery and continue along Chemin du Val de Cruyé. Continue along Chemin de l'Auberderie until you reach Rue Saintine. Turn right onto Rue Pierre Bourdan, which leads through Vieux Marly and Grand Rue to the park.
