Description

(D/A) From the pier, follow the road all the way to Gallanach Lodge and past Gallanach beach on your right. Keep going until the road ends at the farm courtyard, where the road stops. This is also known as The Square.

(1) Follow the path up to your right around the side of the small cliff. You'll go past a house and over a stile.

(2) From there, just follow your nose up to the top where you'll go past an ancient burial ground. There isn't a path as such but if you keep going with the coast on either side, you can't get lost. To your right is Gallanach Bay and on your left is the bay that becomes Shell Beach further in. This is definitely worth going back via if you have the time. To go to Lamb Island, you may have to scramble down some rocks and up the other side but it can be easily. Look out for the animal spine in the little gap between Muck and Lamb Island.

(3) To get to Horse Island, you have to pick your way across seaweed covered rocks. It's doable but quite a bit of an adventure. You'll have to time it right for the low tide - the pier to Gallanach is about 30-40 mins, then another 20 to Lamb Island.
