The nearest shop is probably in Salen.
Ardnamurchan Point and its lighthouse are situated at the westernmost tip of Scotland and indeed of the ‘mainland’ of the United Kingdom – that is, the main island comprising England, Scotland and Wales.
The only way to get there by land is to take the narrow ‘single-track road’ numbered B8007, which runs alongside the splendid Loch Sunart from the village of Salen.
The circular route suggested here therefore follows this small road for much of the way, with the remainder being a charming little path (very damp, like most paths in Scotland) linking the hamlet of Portuairk to this road at the Carraig Caravan Site.
A marine wildlife observation point has been set up below the lighthouse. There may be several dozen deer on the hills near the lighthouse.
