Description of the walk

From the village of Ghisoni, follow the D69 south, then take the D169 junction towards the Ghisoni Capanelle ski resort (1,640 m). Continue to the end of the road at the top of the resort, which will be your starting point.

(S/E) Follow the Pietra Niella ski slope to the summit, then take the well-marked cairn trail. After an hour's walk (and a few steep sections), you will reach a grassy plateau and the Pizzolo spring, which is located in the middle of the alder trees.

(1) Continue climbing for a good hour, still heading south-west, to reach the beautiful Lake Bastani, populated by salmon and char.

(2) You will overlook it from a few dozen metres above as you skirt around it to the west to reach Punta Bacinello.

(3) Turn left and follow the moderately sloping ridge that climbs to the summit of Monte Renoso, which you will reach after about three hours of walking in total. Descending a little on the eastern slope of Renosu, you can enjoy a view of Lake Niellucciu.

(4) Take the same route back to the car park at the Ghisoni Capanelle ski resort (S/E).

A superb walk offering magnificent views, with the hardest part at the beginning. The only downside is that the start of the walk is 21 km from the village of Ghisoni... Let's just say that you have to earn this walk.
700m elevation gain, 9 km, 3 hours

Hike completed as part of a variation of the GR20 between Capanelle and Prati. The climb isn't very difficult if you take your time, and the landscape of the lakes is magical! The descent is also easy, but you need to follow the cairns on the Renoso and you'll soon see the sheepfolds of Pozzi, so it's impossible to get lost! A beautiful variety of landscapes and terrain, a really complete and interesting hike!

Be careful at the start not to take the climb under the ski lift, go to the left
Otherwise, it's a magnificent hike to the summit of Monte Renosu with its view of the eastern plain on one side and the Ajaccio valley on the other. It was magical.

A magnificent hike that takes you to Monti Renosu, one of Corsica's highest peaks. The trail is not easy to follow as it is covered in large stones and rocks and there are no markings. However, if you pay attention, you can follow the trail without too much difficulty using the app. The view from Lac de Bastani is spectacular. However, you won't be too keen to dive into its waters, which seem very dark (it is 24 metres deep, after all): a real glacial lake. From Lake Bastani, you will find snowdrifts (even in July), which are always nice at this time of year. The last part of the ascent is the most difficult: large rocks and very steep. On the plateau just before the summit, you find yourself in a lunar landscape that is ultimately quite hostile: it is both magnificent and unsettling. The wind cools the atmosphere and adds a mystical touch to the place. At the summit: view of Bastani and Nielluccio lakes. There is a herd of about thirty goats on the small ridge just below the summit.

Hike under cloudy skies with lots of snowfields and a frozen lake. We only encountered four people who had stopped at the lake. An extraordinarily hostile calm in this all-white atmosphere. We went up to Mount Renoso, which becomes more accessible after reaching the ridge. It took us six hours because we had to go around the snow via the rocks to reach the lake. Then we started the descent again and finally decided to climb Renoso. This is achievable in dry weather. A superb hike.

Hello
Circular completed on Sunday, 20 November 2022
We ended up going around the lake on the way there and then took the trail that goes up to the ridge... same route on the way back because the direct route from the lake to Renso or from Renso to the lake through the scree seemed dangerous as it was covered with icy snow.
Be sure to start at the upper station where there is an inn, not at the first one at the bottom.
Trails are very well marked.
