Description of the walk

Park above Aulus-les-Bains on the Col d'Agnes road, at the Coumebière plateau (car park).

Red and whiteGR®10markings

(S/E) Head east first on a slightly uphill path, then south-east.

(1) At the fork, take the left path. Follow the GR®10 on a plateau.
After a straight, open section, the trail climbs slightly and passes through a small wooded area.

(2) Continue right towards the south.

(3) At this point, head northeast and do not take the path that leads into a small valley, but stay on theGR® 10.

(4) Turn right at the hairpin bend. At the fork, continue to the left.

(5) Turn left at the hairpin bend and continue along the path.
The approach to Port de Saleix is through open terrain with wide hairpin bends.

Red and yellow markings forthe GR® de Pays Tour du Pic des Trois Seigneurs

(6) At Port de Saleix, leave theGR® 10 here and follow a path northwards. The gradient is steeper in this last section.
Stay on the ridge, following the easy path to the summit of Mont Ceint, also known as Pic de Gérentos.

Return via the same route to the car park (S/E).

Worth a visit

At the summit, there is a notebook set up by a 14-year-old during the Second World War. This notebook explains the role of this man and invites hikers to leave a note about their day.

A welcome breeze during this period of intense heat and sun exposure. A superb route with views for most of the journey.

Magnificent view from the summit, weather permitting. It is also possible to reach Mont Ceint from the Bassiès refuge and continue on to the Pic des Trois Seigneurs.

A very pleasant hike, fairly easy at the start but the climb up Mont Ceint raises the difficulty level. The time indicated includes breaks.
No snow on the trail (mid-May).
Strongly advised against if it has rained in the previous days.
I recommend this hike.

Views of beautiful landscapes. Please note that the path can sometimes be muddy and slippery (if it has rained in the previous days), but otherwise it is a steady climb.
For a change on the way back, you can descend on the west side (yellow markings) via the Bezugue shortcut and then the Girantes plateau, rejoining the path at point 2.

Hike already completed on 27/10/2013 but repeated on 10/10/2019, making a circular route on the way back via Tuc de la Paloumière and Fontaine de Girante.
No great difficulty, just a slightly steep climb after Port de Saleix as you approach Pic de Girante.

Hello, I just did this hike on a beautiful September day. It's not a particularly difficult hike, although it gets a little steeper towards the end, but it's best not to do it in very hot weather (the entire route is exposed). The 360° view from the top of the peak is spectacular!
Just a quick note: I found the Coumebières car park using my altimeter app. There is another car park a little earlier on, in a bend, but it's not the one at . Perhaps the distance from Aulus should be indicated?
