Description of the walk

(S) From the centre of the village of Mijoux, follow Rue Royale and theGR®®, then climb towards La Faucille. The first step is to follow the Sentier des Arts opposite. When you reach the top, cross the track, then take the ski track on the left and the path that climbs to the left in a bend just before the source of the Vouivre.

(1) Follow it and rejoin the track on the left without any difficulty until you reach the Col de la Faucille.

(2) Go around the Petite Chaumière on the right and rejoin the road that passes between the ski pass sales chalet and the start of the toboggan run. Continue straight ahead. The road passes to the left of the giant zip line departure point. Further on, the path climbs to the left. It winds through the forest, crosses a small bridge over a fault and eventually emerges from the woods, just opposite the Gelinotte ski slope. Take the white path before passing under the ski lift.

(3) Follow this white path to the Alpage du Crozat (please note that this section of the path is closed from mid-June to the end of September).

(4) Just before the Chalet du Crozat, take the path that climbs left to Grand Montrond. (Please note that this section of the path is closed from mid-June to the end of September).

(5) At the summit of Montrond, follow theGR®® (red and white) trail. Follow the ridge.

(6) Pass Grand Montrond and continue south-southwest. The trail is hilly, with an uphill profile.

(7) At Pas de l'Echine, continue south and soon head south-west for the final ascent of Colomby de Gex.

(8) Continue straight ahead (south-west) along the ridges, enjoying the beautiful panoramic view. The trail is also hilly and eventually joins the white path.

(9) Continue left and arrive at Col de Crozet.

(10) Descend to the right to the upper station of La Catheline. Follow it along the top and continue on theGR®® trail, then turn right at the bend before keeping left until you reach the Refuge de la Loge (E).
