Description of the walk

(S) From the charming village of Mijoux, turn right towards the crossroads and head towards the Col de la Faucille on the GR®9 via the Route Royale. You will come to a crossroads.

(1) Leave Rue des 22 Cantons on your right to cross the Route Royale and climb the three hairpin bends on the right.

(2) At the next junction, cross the Route Royale and continue straight ahead to cut across the bend.

(3) Back on the road, turn left and follow it to the first bend.

(4) Continue straight ahead to quickly rejoin the road.

(5) Turn left and follow it to the Col de la Faucille. This pass is renowned for its magical view of the Alps.

(6) Take the Route du Petit Mont-Rond opposite for 1.2 km to reach a crossroads.

(7) Leave the road and take the path on the left to the Route du Petit Mont-Rond.

(8) Follow it to the left for 10 metres to reach the GR® and turn right onto a path, then continue straight ahead. Further on, take the road on the right (Chemin du Crozat d'Amont) for 40 metres.

(9) Turn left to join the PR® at a crossroads, including the Sentier de la Vie de Chaux.

(10) Take thefirst path on the right PR® (Balcon du Léman) and stay on the right.

(11) After descending a little, take the path on the left at the crossroads to reach Montrond, which offers breathtaking views of the Hautes Combes du Jura, the Creux de l'Envers forest, the Pays de Gex and the Alps, where a well-deserved break is in order.

(12) Once you've rested, set off again on the GR®9 towards Colomby de Gex, following the ridges. This summit is often very windy, with gales strong enough to knock a man off his feet, as we say here, but once again offering breathtaking views.

(13) After this feast for the eyes, continue straight on the GR® for a descent to the Refuge de la Loge.

(14) At the crossroads, continue along the ridges on the GR® to stay on the view of the Alps from the Plaine de Gex.

(15) At the Col de Crozet, continue on the GR® (south-west). Stay on the marked paths. Keep to the right of the path on the GR®.

(16) At the Loges chairlift, continue straight ahead until you reach a fork.

(17) Continue straight ahead to reach the Refuge de la Loge. This stage ends peacefully at this refuge, surrounded by nature and serenity (E).
