Mam Tor Way

Description of the walk

(S/E) Leave the car park via the path on Northside to begin the ascent. Continue North along the substantial path. Branch northeast (right) up steps towards Mam Tor.

(1) After admiring the 360 views from the summit take a flagged path heading northeast along the ridge. Continue northeast along the ridge taking in views from the ridge. At the intersection of several paths keep to substantial path continuing along the ridge.

(2) Enjoy the views from Back Tor keeping well away from a steep drop on the Northside. Possible detour northwest along the ridge to Loose Hill here otherwise, descend the way you came.

(3) Leave path along the ridge to head southeast (left) on a path making its way gradually downslope. Take higher of two paths to continue south gradually downslope. Keep to the path as it descends South downslope.

(4) Take the road southwest (right) past Blue John mine.

(5) Leave road northwest (right) via footpath upslope. Pass through the gate and take path west (left) to join path south back to the car park.(S/E)
