Description of the walk

Start : South-East of Loch Finlas, Garpels Bridge. (KA6 7QE) Grid ref. NX 469 979

(S) Start at the gates before Garpel Bridge and head up (South) along the gravel road to the Loch.

(1) Once at the loch, stay behind the dam and cross over the Garpels Burn using the metal bridge and follow the path up through 2 gates. Please close gates after accessing.

(2) Follow the path around to the small dam, here the chipped path becomes a trail. The trail continues to follow the edge of the loch around.

(3) Then it bears left through the woods heading North-East for around 1.6 Km.

(4) Once exiting the trees, the trail heads uphill slightly, turn left (North-West) onto the forest road, Loch Doon will be on your right.

(5) Cross Garpel Burn, then at the next junction, turn left and follow the road back to Loch Finlas (1.5 Km). (E)

Start : South-East of Loch Finlas. Grid ref. NX 469 979

Parking : Park at the metal gates at the bottom of the road to Loch Finlas, Just before the Garpels bridge at Loch Doon. Please be sure not to obstruct access.

Dog policy : Please be aware that the start of the route goes through farmland, livestock will be around. Please keep dogs, as always, under full control.
