Les Premiers Sapins: Rantechaux circular

The walk starts at Rantechaux church; there is a car park in front of it with a sign marking the start of the walk (map, route and QR code).

Follow the yellow markings.
Hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, easy route.

(S/E) With your back to the church, head left towards Vanclans. Turn left again onto the road, then left once more.

(1) At the crossroads, take the left-hand road, leaving the main road.

(2) At the junction, continue straight ahead, leaving a white track on your left. Continue to the next fork.

(3) Follow the road. Do not take the path opposite. You will reach a fork.

(4) Continue to the right on this road without entering the forest.

(5) At the junction, you can go straight on along the path for a return trip to the Cicon du Haut viewpoint (picnic table above the metal steps). Otherwise , stay straight ahead to reach a junction.

(6) Stay on the road; do not enter the pasture (animals may be present: cows, horses, sheep, etc.).

(7) Leave the road and turn left into the flat woodland; the path continues alongside the pasture, through the woods.

(8) Leave the pine forest as the vegetation changes. Continue to the right as you leave the forest.

(9) At the end of the path, take a wide track to the left.

(10) Leave the forest track and take a lovely path on the right until you reach a fork.

(11) Take the path on the right and continue to a fork.

(12) Follow the path on the left until you reach the junction.

(13) Continue through the forest on the path to the left until you reach a fork.

(14) Turn left and follow the road to the village. Keep left until you reach the cemetery, then turn right. After the bend, take Rue de l'Eglise on the left to reach the car park (S/E).

Cicon du Haut viewpoint (5): a return walk leading to metal steps and a picnic table in front of the viewpoint.
