The 3 Gorges of Planes d'Hostoles (Molí dels Murris, Can Poeti, Plana)

Go to Les Planes d'Hostoles and head north-east of the village on the C-63 Eix Olot - Lloret de Mar road.
Park in the car park at the start of the Cogolls road, just before the cemetery.

(S/E) Take the Cami de Cogolls road eastwards, passing La Cabanya del Llober. The road passes over the old railway line, which has now been converted into a greenway. Follow the GRT 83 "Cami del nord o del Canigo" trail.
Pass the PH4 Vista Alegre junction and continue along the road, following the yellow markings of the Itinerànnia Trail Network. Walk carefully on the left-hand side of the road until you reach the PH3 Carretera de Cogolls signpost.

(1) Turn right to leave the "Cami de Cogolls" and take the forest track that crosses the Riera de Cogolls, heading north-east.

(2) Turn left to walk along the river above.

(3) Leave the path and descend the wooden steps on the left that lead to the Molí dels Murris pool. Enjoy this natural pool and take a dip under the waterfall. Return along the same path in the opposite direction until you reach the crossroads.

(2) Turn left this time. Ignore the path on the left 50 metres further on and continue to follow the course of the Riera de Cogolls in the forest.

(4) Take the path on the right at the big bend, heading south-east, to leave the path that leads to the fields. Ford the Riera de Cogolls and climb up until you reach a farm track.

(5) Continue along the path to the left, heading east, until you come to fields and then a farm building.

(6) Turn right and follow the path south-west until you reach the crossroads 200 m further on (signpost G82 "La Casica"). Continue straight ahead along the shortcut that descends to the greenway (former railway line) and look for signpost G83 "Carril Bici Les Planes".

(7) Turn left onto the greenway, heading south. Just before the Can Poeti bridge (which crosses the Brugent river), look for the PH1 signpost "Pont de Can Poeti".

(8) Go down the small path with steps on the right to reach the river and the Can Poeti basin. Enjoy the waterfalls to cool off. Return by the same route in the opposite direction to go back up to the PH1 signpost.

(8) Then take the greenway in the opposite direction, heading north.

(7) Continue straight ahead on the greenway, passing under the Cogolls road you took on the way there. Continue to the PH2 "Bosc de Llober" signpost to reach the cemetery and the C-63 Eix Olot - Lloret de Mar road.

(9) Cross the C-63 road with caution and join the path at the end of the turning lane (follow the yellow markings of the Itinerànnia Trail Network). The path leads to a carriageway.

(10) Go down the path on the left, heading south and then north-west 100 m after the bend. The track crosses vegetable gardens before reaching the forest. Finally, a few wooden steps lead down to the Brugent river and the Plana pool. Enjoy the shaded natural pool formed by two waterfalls. This is the most easily accessible "natural swimming pool" in the Hostoles Plains.

(11) Then continue along the path above the Gorg de la Plana, heading north-west, to reach the Gorg del Duran and its magnificent waterfall.

(12) Return along the same path in the opposite direction, passing through the Gorg de la Plana (11) until you reach the road.

(9) Cross the C-63 road with caution and take the path on the right this time, following the road to reach the large car park (S/E).

Please note that access to the Gorges des Planes is regulated! During busy periods, you must purchase a day ticket online to visit the gorges, as capacity is limited to 300 people per day in this protected natural area. It is strongly recommended that you book in advance as places sell out quickly. Upon arrival at the dedicated car park, an information office will indicate availability for each protected site in Brugent (but only during periods of restrictions).

There are no drinking water points along the route.

Gorg del Molí dels Murris: the waters of the Cogolls stream are filtered and become groundwater. They are enriched with dissolved calcium bicarbonate, which petrifies the vegetation and shapes the travertines of the waterfall. It is one of the most beautiful pools in the Planes d'Hostoles.

Gorg de Can Poeti: this natural pool is located on the Brugent river, which flows between large slabs of rock that form natural slides. It is easily accessible via the Via Verde d'El Carrilet from Girona to Olot, down a 450-metre descent with steps. Right next to it is the modernist house of Can Garay and the manor house of Casa Jonquer. Tip: stay at the entrance to the site, as further on the water is stagnant and green.

Gorg de la Plana: this beautiful natural pool formed by two waterfalls is the most easily accessible of the pools in the Hostoles Plains. Close to the C-63 road, it is the ideal place to cool off with the family.

Gorg del Duran: a natural pool in the Brugent river, located a few metres from Gorg de la Plana and featuring a beautiful waterfall.

Ruta del Carrilet: this greenway follows the route of the old Carrilet railway line, the narrow-gauge train that ran from Olot to Girona.
