Access: coming from Tarbes, at the Lourdes exit, after passing under the Pic du Jer funicular, at the large roundabout, do not follow the dual carriageway but turn left onto the D921b, on the right bank of the river.
This road runs alongside the old railway line. At the next crossroads, turn left onto the D26 towards Saint-Créac. Drive through the village, continue for 2 km and turn right onto the D226 towards Ousté. Please note: when you reach the village, continue south and descend to the bottom of the village (do not take the road leading to Berbérust). There is a car park where you can leave your car.
(S/E) Start from the bottom of the village of Ousté. A sign indicates the starting point. Head south, climbing up a well-marked path flanked by low stone walls. The path curves to the left as it climbs and crosses a stream in the valley. Continue climbing, passing a house in good condition, and you will come to a wide track. Turn right.
(1) After a few metres, take the path that climbs to the right, heading south-west. The path winds through the mountain pastures to reach Pla d'Artigues (altitude 780 m). Turn right and follow the well-marked path which continues to climb. Leave Soum de Témou (altitude 956 m) on your left and continue climbing towards an old hut (altitude 946 m).
(2) Continue straight ahead (leaving the path that stays on the left flank). Pass Soum de Trées (983 m). Continue climbing, following the ridge path that heads southwest.
(3) Continue along the ridge path which heads south. Pass to the right of Tuquet de Lhési (1102m) and arrive at the altitude 1092.
(4) Continue south, continuing to climb. Pass to the right of the small summit (altitude 1221). Continue climbing south-east. Arrive at a kind of pass and continue to the right of Soum des Lits (altitude 1407). The path is steep at this point. Continue climbing.
(5) At the altitude of 1533, turn left and cross this ridge. The path heads south-southeast and the slope becomes gentler. Then turn left, straight up the slope, to reach Soum de Trézères at the altitude of 1617.
(6) This is a beautiful spot to admire the Pyrenees. Now it's time to think about the return journey.
Turn around and go back through the two intersections you passed on the way up, arriving at the third.
(3) Leave the path and descend to the right into the summer pasture, heading for a well-marked path below. An old yellow marker may help you. Turn right onto this beautiful path towards the village of Ourdon below. The path then heads due west towards a valley.
(7) Do not cross the Ruisseau de Trésères stream. Turn left, 180°, to head due east on another wide, well-marked path. Look for the remains of yellow and orange markings. Descend towards the village of Ourdon, cross it and continue due east without trying to descend. Pass the cemetery on your right.
(8) At the village exit, in the right-hand bend, go straight ahead and look for a poorly maintained and poorly marked path that passes under the farm. There is still a signpost. Then stay on this little-used path, which remains almost level well above the road below.
Follow this path into the forest. It is congested in places but remains passable. After a large bend, still in the forest, descend and pass near a water source.
(9) Continue until you reach a clearing with a beautiful abandoned barn on your right and follow this track as it continues downhill. You will come back to the initial fork.
(1) Turn right, continue for a few metres, then turn left at the corner of the house in good condition. Descend via the same path you took on the way up to reach the vehicles in the car park (S/E).
