Park in the car park at the Col de l'Escrinet, on the Privas side.
(S/E) From the car park, head south and then left onto the small road towards Freyssenet and Pramailhet.
Pass under the bird migration observation deck. Leave a path with an Info-rando sign on your left.
(1) Immediately afterwards, leave the road and take a path on the left that climbs up through the meadow. It is not very visible at first. Take the steepest path and pass to the left of the first rocky outcrop. After the first rock barrier, the path is well marked and cleared. After passing along a fence at the edge of the rocks, you will arrive at a viewpoint at the end of the fence.
(2) From there, there is no longer a trail. Turn left at a right angle and climb straight up into the forest. In the absence of markings, follow a water pipe running along the ground. Don't worry, though, as the forest is a beech forest, the undergrowth is very clean and completely free of brush. It is easy to navigate by sight. When the pipe disappears into a small rocky cirque (water catchment?), go around it on the left and continue climbing the rocks in the undergrowth without straying too far to the left.
(3) When you reach the top, go through a barbed wire fence and you will come out in the meadow surrounding the telecommunications relay building. Go around the relay, leaving it on your left to get a view of the west side, then join the access road and start descending on this road.
(4) At the second bend, cut across the meadows due east to reach a promontory with a beautiful view of Privas, the Ouvèze valley and the Alps.
(5) Turn back to rejoin the road on the descent.
(6) Before a large left-hand bend, leave the road and climb up to the right to reach the ridge. Follow this ridge along a fence, through a cleared area or at the top of pastures. Ignore the path descending to the right shown on the IGN map.
(7) At a difficult-to-cross scrubby area, veer left to rejoin the road. Go through the gate, either climbing over it or closing it behind you. At the crossroads, take the road on the right. Leave the road coming from Pramailhet on your left and continue to the Col de l'Escrinet and the starting car park (S/E).
