The Cayla Bridge circular from Cadour

A beautiful hike in the heart of the wild gorges of the Aveyron, following in the footsteps of a distant past, of which the Pont du Cayla is a magnificent reminder. Panoramic views of the Aveyron valley and a walk along the riverbank.

Description of the walk

Departure from the village square in Cadour.

(S/E) From the small square in front of the church, take the small street on the left between two houses, which joins the road to Vèzes.

(1) At the crossroads, turn left and follow the road to an intersection (marked by a cross).

(2) Take the path opposite to reach and cross the hamlet of Laurière. Keep left in the hamlet and you will come to a crossroads.

(3) Turn right towards Vèzes and ignore the access road to Puech de Vèzes on the right to reach a fork before the hamlet of Vézes.

(4) Turn left at the hairpin bend to take a path and pass under Sinières. Continue to the first crossroads.

(5) Follow the path on the right which descends through the woods to the Pont du Cayla road.

(6) Continue along the road to the right, then turn right onto a sunken path that descends to the Aveyron. Turn left and follow the river to the ancient bridge.

(7) Continue along the road (white and redGR®®62Bmarkings). Go around the hairpin bend to reach a footpath.

(8) Turn right and follow the path lined with box trees to the old hamlet of Cayla. Continue to the old tower to rejoin the small road you left earlier.

(6) Turn right and follow theGR®® 62B, which descends to the River Aveyron before climbing back up towards Pouzoulet. Continue straight on until you reach the edge of the hamlet.

(9) Leave the GR® by turning left and then immediately right onto the road that leads to the village of Cadour. As you climb, enjoy views of the Aveyron gorges and the Ségala plateau. When you reach Cadour, keep left to return to the starting point (S/E).
