Description of the walk

Departure from the car park, Chemin de Marsac in Aubignas.

(S/E) From the car park, head towards the village centre via Rue des Écoles. Before reaching the small square at the entrance to the village, turn right and go down Rue de la Tour to the fork.

(1) Continue straight ahead on the tarmac road for 300 metres, then, shortly after a small bridge over the Ruisseau de Thieulat, at the crossroads, take a gravel path on your left, which you leave 200 metres further on to take a small path on the right. This path winds upwards and arrives near some ruins, offering a beautiful view of the village of Aubignas and the surrounding mountains.

(2) Continue left on the path that runs along the edge of the plateau to the Larein intersection.

(3) After the ruined house, turn left onto theGR®42(red and white markings), pass under the power lines and arrive at a fork.

(4) Continue left to Les Audouards.

(5) Leavethe GR® and take the road on the left towards Peyrole, passing under the power lines again.

(6) Pass in front of the Peyrole farm (16th century). At the end of the meadow, at the large tree, turn left (barrier) onto the signposted path that descends through the woods towards Le Thieular. This will take you back to the junction you passed on the way out.

(1) Turn right and follow the same path back to the car park (S/E).

A very varied route with forest and beautiful views. A little road, forest paths and single track. A lovely discovery of the village of Aubignas.

3km of road with little interest but very little traffic. Otherwise, a pleasant route through woods and beautiful countryside. Perhaps more enjoyable in the opposite direction... Discover the village of Aubignas and its basalt industry.

It took us 4½ hours of non-stop beautiful scenery. Between points 3 & 4, the descent is not recommended if you have knee problems, or you should bring walking sticks. It turned out to be very slippery and littered with large rocks.

A magnificent view of the Rhône Valley and beautiful ice stalactites. No particular difficulty. Walk completed in 4 hours rather than 5 hours 20 minutes, with a child.
Thanks to the person who suggested this hike.

Beautiful view of the valley, but the trail runs right under power lines and a fairly long section is on tarmac.

A lovely hike that takes us along the ridge and then through beautiful woodland without any technical difficulties.
At this time of year, we were delighted by the abundance of flowers, tall grasses and flowering broom.
A gradual climb on a local road will require a little stamina for less experienced walkers (between points 5 and 6).
At point 1, after the metal bridge, a "hiking trail" sign will indicate that you should leave the tarmac road.
After the Peyrole farm, go through the gate on your left (marked PR on both sides).
A little further on, we did not follow the GPS track but the clearly marked path.
Thank you for this beautiful route!

I did this route on 10/04/2023 in good weather, with no wind. The route is marked and arrows indicate the directions to take at certain points. Between points 3 and 4, turn left about thirty metres after passing the high-voltage EDF pylon. There is a sign on this pylon indicating that you should turn left. As there is a path to the left just before the pylon and another just after it, you need to remember to continue for about 30 metres after the pylon to find the correct route, which branches off to the left and is clearly marked at this point.

Hello, hike completed on Sunday, 2 October 2022. Beautiful day, easy hike to follow, but it's better to follow the trail than the description (white and yellow markings). Sometimes there are errors on the right or left.
Be careful with the car park at the start; choose the town hall car park (7 spaces for cars) and leave the one reserved for motorhomes free!
An easy hike with beautiful views. The other hikers we met were very friendly and discreet!
The same goes for the hunters, who were happy to answer our novice questions!
When you arrive, take some time to explore the village of Aubignas, a beautiful historic village that is well worth a visit. And don't miss a break
at the refreshment bar (very reasonable prices) and the pizza truck! Warm welcome from the villagers, who gather to chat with each other and with us!
Thank you to the hiker who posted this outing online.

Hello,
A magnificent route, not very busy, at least on that day. It's the season when the broom is in bloom, and on this hike, there's broom all along the way. It's enchanting. However, you really need to do it now to enjoy it.

A beautiful route with superb views of the Rhône Valley, the Vercors, Mont Ventoux, etc.
Please note: there is a section of narrow road between points 4 and 6 (no traffic).
Best done on a clear day with good visibility and no wind (not in strong Mistral winds).
