Access via tram, Gaillard station.
(S/E) From Gaillard station, head northeast and cross the boulevard to take Rue Sainte-Claire. At Saint-Eutrope Church, on the right, turn left onto Rue de la Morée, then right onto Rue de la Serbie. Continue straight ahead at the next crossroads, then arrive at a crossroads with several streets, at a square on the left. Continue in the same direction to cross Rue du Pont Naturel.
(1) On the other side, turn left, ignore Rue des Portes d'Argent on the right (towards Les Bughes) and then turn right onto Rue Paul Diomède. At the next intersection, cross Rue du Clos Notre-Dame and turn slightly right onto a lane (no entry sign). Cross a street and continue straight ahead into another alleyway.
When you reach Rue Eugène Pelletan, follow it to the left, then turn right onto Rue Victor Duruy. At the intersection, continue straight ahead into a narrow lane closed to motor vehicles. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead onto Rue André Bal to reach another crossroads, opposite an entrance to Parc de Montjuzet through a narrow iron gate.
(2) Enter the park and go up a narrow lane. After a few steps, continue uphill, veering to the left, then follow the path west-northwest. At the T-junction, turn right, then immediately left to continue uphill along a low wall.
When you reach a sign prohibiting entry to a rehabilitated area, turn right, continuing uphill, then turn left at the next T-junction. At the next crossroads, continue straight ahead up the steps and continue on this main staircase, ignoring all the stairs on the right and left until you reach a path. Turn left and walk a few metres until you reach the entrance to a large area with children's playground equipment and picnic tables.
(3) Do not enter this area but turn right immediately. Continue along the playground on your left, then a large covered shelter, then descend towards the orientation table. Continue down the wide path to the left of the orientation table.
When the path turns left, at a stone sculpture, continue on the path opposite, towards a dovecote, following the red and whiteGR®® markings. Further on, the path runs alongside a wall on your right (GR®® markings). Ignore a gate in this wall, then you will come to some steps. Continue down the steps, veering to the right, until you reach one of the park gates. Look for the "Parc de Montjuzet" hiking sign and a fountain on the left.
(4) Continue straight on Rue des Aubépines, turn right onto Rue de Montjuzet, then take the second street on the right, Deuxième Impasse Monjuzet.
Please note that a notice dated 14/02/2022 indicates that the cul-de-sac is closed. You must therefore continue straight ahead on Rue de Montjuzet to reach Boulevard Lavoisier.
Climb the few steps that extend this street to reach Rue Ernest Picard and continue downhill to the left.
Cross Boulevard Lavoisier and continue straight ahead, then cross Rue du Clos Notre-Dame and continue straight ahead onto Rue des Portes d'Argent. You will arrive at the crossroads of several streets that you already passed on the way there.
(1) Turn left (GR®® sign on a post) onto Rue du Pont Naturel. Shortly afterwards, on the left, near a private square, you will see the old façade of the Fontaines Pétrifiantes de Saint-Alyre. Continue straight ahead to the next intersection and turn right onto Rue Saint-Arthème.
Follow it, turning left then right to reach Rue de la Garde. Continue left, ignoring Rue Sainte-Claire on the right. Shortly afterwards, you will see a fountain at the end of a small square on the left. Continue straight ahead onto Rue Dumariant.
At the T-junction, turn right onto Rue Gaultier de Biauzat. Ignore Rue Saint-Eutrope on your right and note the beautiful building with a turret on your left. Continue straight ahead to reach Rue André Moinier. Turn right to return to Place Gaillard (S/E).
