Palon de Résy on the heights of Saint-Jacques-des-Allemands

Park in the car park where you can leave your vehicle for the day or even several days, except on Saturdays, which is market day.

(S/E) Head towards the church and go around it.

(1) Turn right and continue along the path that enters the woods and climbs up to the Ferraro refuge, where you can take a break and refill your water bottles: beautiful view of the valley.

(2) Pass in front of the refuge and take the path straight ahead at the end of the terrace: see signpost. Reach Alpe della Forca Inferiore.

(3) Turn onto the path on the left, which climbs steeply. Take your time! You will reach a junction.

(4) Turn left onto the path that continues to climb towards the summit and reach Palon de Rèsy, the highest point of the day. Cross and beautiful view of the peaks of Monte Rosa, its moraine and Lac Bleu.

(5) Turn around to return to the fork.

(4) Take trail 8D on the left, a rocky balcony trail that takes you past the various small lakes of Rèsy. This trail is marked by numerous cairns, so keep your eyes peeled. Reach the largest of the Rèsy Lakes.

(6) Continue along the trail to a nearby plateau with beautiful views.

(7) Continue south-east.

(8) Begin the descent: you need to keep a close eye on the markings and have sure footing. Take your time to reach the "basin" of Alpe della Forca Superiore.

(9) Go around it on the right and follow the path that leads back to the Palon de Rèsy junction.

(3) Follow the ascent route in reverse to return to the refuge, then descend to the car park (S/E).
