The entire hike was done in snow. Conditions (good snow, well-marked trail, mild weather) allowed us to do it without snowshoes, using only walking sticks, anti-slip soles and gaiters. (Please note that you should always check conditions before setting out, as they can change quickly)
For the ascent, I took the loop in the opposite direction, following the snowshoe route to the Ramées shelter. Then, I didn't follow the marked route, but climbed directly up to the ridges (superb view), which I followed until I descended back to the original route before climbing up to Moucherotte. Return via the GR. However, you need to watch out for people coming down on touring skis.
A very beautiful hike in ideal conditions (bright sunshine, clear skies, no wind, good snow). I was surprised by how few hikers there were on this beautiful school holiday (the Moucherotte is a classic Vercors hike and relatively accessible): only about ten people, on snowshoes or touring skis.
Superb scenery throughout the route. At the summit, breathtaking views of the Vercors, the Chartreuse, the Dévoluy, Belledone, the Ecrins... and Mont Blanc watching over in the distance.
it was a six-hour drive there and back to enjoy this hike, but I have no regrets! I'll definitely be back in other seasons.
