Description of the walk

Park in the car park at the Bleymard-Mont Lozère resort

(S/E) From the car park, head south via the small path parallel to the right of the D20 road. Follow this red and white marked path (GR®70) for just under a kilometre until you reach an intersection.

(1) Leave the track on the right (return route) and take the path opposite (still on theGR®70), which climbs gradually southwards.
This section offers incredible views, including part of the Écrins massif (weather permitting).
Further on, you will reach a trail junction.

(2) Stay on theGR®70, turning right towards the west for about 1 km, with more spectacular views, until you reach the coveted summit of Finiels (Mont Lozère), the highest peak in the Cévennes.

(3) Take advantage of the three orientation tables located at the summit to learn about the landscapes you can see before continuing on the route.
Leave theGR®70and follow the yellow markings.
Head west along the ridge line until you reach an intersection where the markings indicate to turn right (downhill).

(4) Even though the descent is not very steep, take care on this section. Head north to join a forest track.

(5) Take the track on the right to reach the intersection at the start.

(1) Simply retrace your steps to return to the station car park and finish this beautiful hike (S/E).

Very beautiful. Easy and very scenic extension to the Laubies sign and descent via the Route des Chômeurs.
The first part up to the summit is busy, but after that there's no one around.

A lovely walk for a group of ten septuagenarians, without any major difficulties and with beautiful views.
It was difficult to find a sheltered spot for everyone to have their picnic at the summit.
i recommend it for getting in shape

Be careful at point 2, bear in mind that you first pass by the summit of Mont Finiel. The start of the hike follows a ski slope, which climbs quite steeply. At point 2, leave this slope. There is no shade along the entire route, the scenery is magnificent, and the views from the summits are spectacular. The descent is short (600 m) but requires great care.

A beautiful route with breathtaking views. The route climbs gradually at the start, then descends and levels out.
A great way to discover Mont Lozère.

An easy walk with beautiful landscapes of moors and peat bogs + a 360° view of the surrounding mountains - the resort is the least pleasant part (at least in summer) - the first part up to point 3 is very busy (Stevenson's trail), then there's no one else around !

A very beautiful hike through the heathland, fairly quiet at the start of the day, with stunning views from the summit.

A very beautiful hike. Le Finiels is actually a bare plateau, not a summit as we usually think of it. Although the circular is very interesting, most hikers do not use it and make a round trip, so there are almost no people on the return leg.
