Park in the car park at the Bleymard-Mont Lozère resort
(S/E) From the car park, head south along the small path running parallel to the right of the D20 road. Follow this red and white marked path (GR®®70) for just under a kilometre until you reach a junction.
(1) Ignore the track on the right (the return route) and take the path opposite (still on theGR®®70), which climbs gradually due south.
On this section, you’ll be treated to incredible views, including part of the Écrins massif (weather permitting).
Further on, you’ll reach a junction of tracks.
(2) Stay on theGR®®70, heading right towards the west for about 1 km, with stunning views all the way to the coveted summit of Finiels (Mont Lozère), the highest peak in the Cévennes.
(3) Take advantage of the three information boards at the summit to familiarise yourself with the surrounding landscape before continuing on the route.
Leave theGR®®70and follow the yellow markings.
Head west along the ridge before reaching a junction where the markings indicate you should turn right (downhill).
(4) Although the descent isn’t particularly steep, take care on this section. Head due north to a forest track.
(5) Take the track on the right to reach the junction at the start.
(1) Simply retrace your steps in the opposite direction to reach the resort car park and finish this beautiful hike (out and back).
