Park in the car park at the Bleymard-Mont Lozère resort
(S/E) From the car park, head south via the small path parallel to the right of the D20 road. Follow this red and white marked path (GR®70) for just under a kilometre until you reach an intersection.
(1) Leave the track on the right (return route) and take the path opposite (still on theGR®70), which climbs gradually southwards.
This section offers incredible views, including part of the Écrins massif (weather permitting).
Further on, you will reach a trail junction.
(2) Stay on theGR®70, turning right towards the west for about 1 km, with more spectacular views, until you reach the coveted summit of Finiels (Mont Lozère), the highest peak in the Cévennes.
(3) Take advantage of the three orientation tables located at the summit to learn about the landscapes you can see before continuing on the route.
Leave theGR®70and follow the yellow markings.
Head west along the ridge line until you reach an intersection where the markings indicate to turn right (downhill).
(4) Even though the descent is not very steep, take care on this section. Head north to join a forest track.
(5) Take the track on the right to reach the intersection at the start.
(1) Simply retrace your steps to return to the station car park and finish this beautiful hike (S/E).
