Start from the car park in the hamlet of Les Borels on the banks of the Drac.
(S/E) Cross the river and take the track that climbs up from the small bridge. This track crosses a few meadows before entering the trees.
Stay on this track until you come to a small signposted path that climbs quite steeply up the slope on the left.
(1). Stay on this path, even when it joins the track for the first time (this avoids a steep and unpleasant climb up the original track!).
Rejoin the track overlooking the stream (still covered with snowfields in mid-July) and offering beautiful views of the surrounding rock faces, and continue to a small rocky outcrop
(2). Ignore the trails that lead to the surrounding passes and descend to the right towards the stream. Cross the Tourond (a pretty little bridge) and continue to follow the trail to reach the refuge.
(3) (At the refuge, a trail branches off to the left and allows you to make a round trip to admire the Pisse waterfall).
Below the refuge, rejoin the trail that descends to the other side of the stream. Simply follow it to reach the hamlet of Les Fermons.
(4) Pass a small chapel and cross the hamlet. At the exit of the hamlet, cut across the bend in the small road and take the track that descends in the extension of this shortcut.
(5) Join the D472 and, at the car park, take the track that starts off to the right and follows the right bank of the Drac. This will take you back to the Borels bridge and the car park at the starting point (S/E).
