Le Clos du Boeuf in Laudonnie

You will walk along sunken paths, discover numerous viewpoints and pass small ponds teeming with wildlife. Herons, ducks, moorhens and teals have made their home in this peaceful spot. Heading back towards Laudonnie, after the last pond, on your left, you’ll pass the “Clos du Boeuf”, a small meadow where the farmer used to lead his animal – or, at best, his pair of oxen – for a well-deserved rest after long hours of walking.

Description of the walk

Park at the entrance to the village of Laudonnie.

(S/E) Take the path that winds its way between the houses and gardens (yellow markings). After about 400 metres, turn left and continue on to the ponds.

(1) Follow the yellow markings towards the ponds, which you will walk alongside for a while.

(2) Turn right at a right angle and continue to the next junction.

(3) Take the path on the left which climbs towards the village of Laudonnie. Carry straight on, ignoring the turnings on either side. Once in Laudonnie, turn left for about 300m.

(4) Leave the road and take a track on the right which crosses meadows and then heads into the forest. As you leave the road to take this dirt track, you can enjoy a lovely view of the countryside. Reach the village and turn left to pass in front of an old wash house.

(5) Turn left again to take the small road that passes through a farmstead.

(6) Turn right onto the path to walk alongside the river on your left and make a circular route through the woods before returning to the start (S/E).

An easy route, although there were a few detours due to the trail being unclear in places, which led me through woods full of brambles and tall grass and forced me to turn back. It’s best to follow the yellow markings rather than the trail itself. The paths are passable at this time of year, but the grass is very tall. The estimated time is accurate.

A very pleasant and scenic route, well signposted on the ground; the downloaded map differs slightly from the route, which is very well signposted.
A fairly wild route with sections through the forest and the countryside.
An easy 2-hour route that I recommend, though it can get a bit muddy in very wet weather
