Set off from the car park at Ferme Vagabonde, 117 Route des Combes.
(S/E) Set off along the edge of the woods, then turn left and head straight on until you reach the road in the hamlet of Collevray.
(1) Turn left and follow the road downhill to the end of Chemin de Collevray.
(2) Turn left and cross the D18 with care, then quickly turn right onto Chemin du Sauzey.
(3) Pass through Le Sauzey, with its château, then turn right and follow the road to the end.
(4) At La Combe, turn right and stay on the main track until you reach a three-way junction.
(5) Keep to the right and head towards the Ruisseau du Thel.
(6) Take this opportunity to water the donkeys. Then continue on to the hamlet of Le Thel.
(7) Cross the road (D32) and carry on along the path climbing up opposite until you reach a road (picnic table).
(8) Ignore this and take a sharp left-hand bend (part of the Way of St James) and carry on to the four-way junction at the Croix du Pendu.
(9) Leave the GR®76A and turn left. Follow the path to a crossroads.
(10) Turn left, taking care, onto the D32, Route de la Serve, then turn right at the next junction and head for the Folies de la Serve guesthouse.
(11) Continue along the path as it continues, then turn right at the next set of junctions to reach the D18E road.
(12) Follow it to the left and, after about 100 m, take the track on the right, located at the foot of the sign for the Avenas Departmental Forest. Pass the picnic table and carry on straight ahead until you reach a three-way junction.
(13) Keep left, then right at the next junction. Stay on the main track and carry on until you reach a crossroads.
(14) Ignore the tarmac road and continue along thesecond path on the right, almost directly opposite. Keep left at the next three-way junction and carry on straight ahead until you reach a junction.
(15) Ignore the first turn-off on the left and take the next one. After two successive steep climbs, you’ll reach the Croix de Rochefort.
(16) Cross over to the other side of the ridge and descend, following the ridge line to the Croix Callet. Continue straight ahead for 100 m and you’ll soon reach a three-way junction.
(17) Continue to the right, heading east. At the road, carry on straight ahead, pass two turn-offs on the left, then take the next path on the left, heading north-east, and continue straight on, downhill, towards the pass. Pass the Col du Fût d’Avenas and the D136 on the right to join the D18 on the left.
(18) Cross it and continue north-north-west along the road (Chemin des Noisetier), which turns into a track. At the 639-metre mark, turn right onto the same track and head for Les Combes.
(19) Carry on straight ahead due north. Return to the original junction and turn left to reach the Ferme Vagabonde (S/E).
