Description of the walk

Car park: end of Rue Chairotte in Andenelle, 5300 Andenne.

(S/E) From the car park, head to the banks of the Meuse (RAVeL) and follow it for 1.3 km towards Huy. After passing the Rieudotte Castle park and before the stream, turn right to join the national road (N90). Follow this road for 100 m, then turn left into Rue Chênu. The street runs alongside farm buildings and then becomes a farm track.

(1) At the fork, go through the gate (the path is public) and continue straight ahead towards the woods. The path soon turns into a trail and runs alongside the stream at a distance. When the trail is about to cross the stream (small bridge), do not take it but continue straight ahead. After about 50 metres, turn right at a 90° angle and climb the (steep!) slope to reach a small tarmac road.

(2) Take the path on the left to reach a hamlet. At the crossroads, turn left into Rue de Perwez and follow it for 200 metres until you reach the woods. As the road curves to the left, follow the forest path (old local road) that climbs up opposite. Follow it to the end until you reach the tarmac road and a forest path.

(3) At this junction, turn right for a few metres, then immediately turn left onto the path running between the field and the woods. Ignore the straight path between the two hedges on the left and continue straight ahead at the next junction to begin the descent through the woods towards the hamlet of Kevret.

(4) When you reach the road, first turn right then left to take the path leading to the Moulin de Krevet. After 300 metres, at the junction of several paths, turn right and take the old local road in the opposite direction. Follow it for 1,800 metres: the path winds through the woods, then crosses meadows and rejoins the woods.

(5) A few metres before the small bridge, take the path on the right, downhill. After 500 metres, it leads to a street. Turn right and walk for 150 metres, then take the path on the left (just before the bend). This path crosses the Bois d'Heer from one end to the other. After 1 kilometre, the path joins a forest track.

(6) Turn left onto the forest track, then right onto the path about 30 metres further on. Continue downhill to reach the top of Rue Basse des Canes. Shortly after No. 10, turn right into the street of the same name (signposted "voie sans issue" or "dead end") and follow it to the end. At the end, the street continues as a farm track between two hedges and soon joins the woods. Continue downhill until you find the old local road.

(7) Turn left onto the local road, which continues as a tarmac road (Rue des Aguesses) at the farm. Continue straight ahead, uphill, at the next junction. At the top of the hill, where the street curves to the left, take the path on the right, downhill. After a few dozen metres, it turns left and runs alongside a wood, coming out 600 metres later onto an open space and a road (Rue Grande France). Continue straight ahead, slightly uphill.

(8) At the top, at houses nos. 37 and 41, continue straight ahead, downhill (the street is narrower and shorter, between two embankments). Pass the cemetery and keep left to continue downhill along Rue Arthur Charles.

(9) Thirty metres before the main road, turn right into the cul-de-sac running behind the houses (Rue Pré des Dames). Go around the school on the right, then turn left into Rue du Chalet. When you reach the main road (Avenue Roi Albert), turn into Rue des Pipiers opposite. This street runs alongside the (channelled) Andenelle stream on both sides.

(10) Shortly after No. 14, turn into the cul-de-sac running alongside the front of houses No. 16 and 18. This leads shortly afterwards to Rue Chairotte, where you turn left to reach the car park (S/E).
