Start from the car park opposite Bonneuil Town Hall. The esplanade right next to the starting car park is called the Champ de Mars.

(S/E) Take the D699 and head west (to the right as you leave the car park behind you) and walk past the town hall. You’ll reach some houses 200m further on; turn left after passing three of them. The narrow street gives way to a good path to follow through the vineyards for nearly 3km: pass above Château du Breuil, skirt a first wood on the right, a second on the left, pass a junction and reach a house. At the fork a little further on, take the path on the right.
(1) Turn left uphill to go round a wood, keeping it on your left. At the end of the wood, turn right onto a path between the vineyards. Then, a little further on, turn left between two vineyards. Reach a wood at a junction with a path coming from the right; continue straight on.
(2) At a small house in the vineyards, on the edge of a wood, follow the path leading into it. This forest path is clearly marked throughout. Ignore the paths coming from the left and then the right.
(3) At a poorly marked fork, keep to the right on the main path. The path bends as it leaves the forest and runs alongside the vineyard on the left.
(4) Cross the D420 road and, at the edge of the woods, turn right to follow it for a few metres before entering the woods. The path is not always clearly marked but is always there. After 500m on this narrow path, you’ll come to a track; take it on the left and head down through the vineyards.
(5) At the very bottom, near a small house, turn left, pass a poplar grove and turn right to head a little further into the forest. Several paths emerge: take the widest one in the middle (the others are for motocross). Follow this forest path, which does not exactly follow the IGN map. Ignore the numerous motocross crossings and stay on the main path. Pass a well-marked crossroads and continue straight ahead.
(6) At a waterhole, turn sharply left downhill, passing another waterhole. The path is well marked and continues downhill. When the path emerges from the forest, turn right to descend between a vineyard and the forest. The path now leaves the forest. Continue along this good path; it turns sharply left and becomes flatter.
(7) Pass by a cooperage and continue in the same direction. You’ll come to a road on the right. Enter Bonneuil and take the first left to pass in front of the church and return to the car park where you started. (S/E).
