By car, once you arrive at Sainte-Catherine, head towards the campsite in the direction of Châtelard. At the first right-hand bend, after the beige house, park along the road that runs alongside a meadow overlooking the starting point (elevation 728).
(S/E) Follow the path towards the Bois du Grand Châtelard, heading south-west. This path climbs up the Platte valley to a crossroads.
(1) Continue straight ahead for a few dozen metres to join theGR® Tour des Monts du Lyonnais. Follow it in the same direction. Leave the first path on your left, take the road opposite at the next crossroads and continue to a fork.
(2) Leave theGR® and turn right towards the Chapelle Saint-Apollinaire signposted. This country path is marked in white and yellow.
(3) Cross the D663 and head towards the chapel opposite. A few metres further on, turn left onto the tarmac path that descends towards La Fayolle. About 200 m further on, at the second intersection, turn right onto the path between the fields, cross a small wood and continue to a four-way intersection.
(4) Take the path on the right that climbs through the woods, then descends towards Charbonnières. At the road, turn right and then, immediately after, leave the road by turning onto a path on the right. Walk alongside a farm where you can admire peacocks and other birds. At the crossroads after the farm, ignore the path on the right and continue straight ahead: there is a short climb followed by a descent towards Le Barrot.
(5). At the T-junction, turn right, then immediately left to join a small road (D664). Cross over to take the path opposite (tarmac for 30 m), which will take you back to the starting point.
(1) Go straight ahead, rejoin theGR® and follow it, turning left into the woods.
(6) Keep left at the junction, pass the path leading to the water tank on your left and walk along the campsite, enjoying the view.
(7) At the cross, cross the road and go down the stony path opposite. Continue along it, crossing the road twice to return to the starting point (S/E).
