Charance Castle

A very short walk around the pond at Charance Castle. It’s a peaceful green oasis, accessible to all.

You can stroll through the gardens below the esplanade. Before continuing on your way, you can visit the castle, where the Parc des Écrins visitor centre is located on the ground floor at the rear.

A short, leisurely walk. Mostly in the shade, which is lovely in summer. Beautiful views over Gap.
A slight disappointment regarding the condition of the rose garden, which is very poorly maintained.

Actually, it’s not 2 km but almost double that from the Bayard Pass road
The 2 km is from a car park at Les Nivouls along a side road
My sincerest apologies

You can make this walk considerably longer by parking at the car park on the edge of the Route du Col Bayard (unfortunately, it’s a small car park with a maximum of three spaces) and taking the wide path along the Drac Canal as far as the ‘Oeuf’ lock; It’s a bit of a long walk (2 km) but completely flat; you then head back down to Charance Castle via a path through the orchards, most of which are unkempt
In summer, the fountain and the château’s gardens are well worth a visit
