Departure from the Plate Forme de Cot dessus car park.
(S/E) Take the good south/south-west track and follow theGRP® Tour des Baronnies de Bigorre for about 400 m until you reach an intersection with another track.
(1) Continue along the track on the right, going straight ahead and leaving a fairly steep shortcut on your left. You will reach another intersection.
(2) A rock blocks theGRP®, which continues straight ahead. Our circular loop will rejoin this point on the descent.
Turn completely left and follow the track for about 700 m. Continue right at the hairpin bend and continue for a little over 900 m, passing a second hairpin bend on the left to reach a new junction.
(3) Turn left at a right angle at the top of the small south-eastern clearing. After another hairpin bend, follow the south-western edge of the woods and leave the main path to head straight south, either in a straight line or zigzagging for 100 metres, along the woods.
(4) Turn right and enter the woods, looking for the path but keeping a south-westerly direction. At the edge of the woods, continue climbing further west to the Cabane de Cot above. This is a very well-maintained cabin with four beds and a kitchen with a fireplace. A little further back, another metal hut provides six more comfortable beds. However, there is no water or spring nearby.
(5) After visiting the huts and taking a short break to eat, continue the hike with a slightly steep climb on a path that is not always very visible, first heading due west, then to the right and finally to the left, arriving below the summit of Casque du Lhéris. It is not difficult to reach the summit in good weather, but on foggy days, the lack of visibility complicates the route.
(6) From the summit, observe the landscape with caution due to the 200-metre drop to the south.
Begin the descent heading north-west. Pass two paths on your left to reach the Puits d'Arris in a large clearing.
(7) Continue descending northwest then west in open terrain and, after entering the woods, join a path on your right. Reach the junction of several paths in the Bois de Labouche.
(8) Turn right and head north, then north-east, until you reach a small clearing at a crossroads.
(9) Turn right heading due east and, after two hairpin bends in the Bois de Tournarisse, you will arrive at theGRP® du Tour des Baronnies de Bigorre.
(10) Follow thisGRP® trail to the right along a good track for about 350 m.
(11) Leave the track and continue right on theGRP® until you reach your destination.
(2) At the rock you passed on the way up, continue straight ahead on theGRP® to reach the Plate Forme car park (S/E).
