Description of the walk

Coming from Chambéry, drive through Saint-Alban-Leysse and take the D11 towards Curienne. At the top of La Batie, pass the water reservoir and, after a large right-hand bend at Le Sordet, park 400 m before the hairpin bend.

(S/E) Continue on the D11 down a slight incline and reach the crossroads of a path near the houses in Le Sordet.

(1) Take the path on the right, located below the house. Follow the signs for Moulins Fontaine Froide and continue along the flat path. Cross two streams and you will come to a fork with a sign for Fontaine Froide.

(2) Continue straight ahead to reach the Ternèze Canyon, taking care to descend towards the old mill at Gruau. Walk along the stream and admire the canyon before reaching the Trou de l'Enfer.

(3) Return in the opposite direction to the previous fork.

(2) Take the GRP® Tour du Massif des Bauges trail on the left, marked in yellow and red. After an easy climb, first through the forest and then in open country, you will arrive at the centre of Curienne, the main village, at the crossroads by the church.

(4) Leave the GRP® here and take Chemin de la Roche on the right. A little further on, before the last house, you will find the start of the Planètes fun trail.

(5) Take it on the left to reach Saturn.

(6) Shortly after Saturn, take the path on the left at the edge of the forest, then through the meadow, to reach the Bognette geodetic point at an altitude of 812 metres.

(7) Return in the opposite direction to the previous crossroads.

(6) Turn left, go around La Motte Castrale, and you will reach a crossroads with a signpost for Barby.

(8) Turn right towards Barby and continue downhill.

(9) Pass the Stèle des Résistants. Continue straight ahead in a northerly direction until you reach the Chemin de la Paraie intersection.

(10) Turn right onto this road, pass the houses of La Paraie and you will soon reach the D11. Turn left to reach the car park (S/E).
