The Bois de Haute Heuval

A lovely circular route around the Bois de Haute-Heuval. After about 1 km on a quiet concrete road, it takes an old cobbled street (worthy of Paris-Roubaix!) before joining forest paths. It may not be the most beautiful of the (many) possible walks in the area, but it is nonetheless enjoyable, whatever the season.

Opinion on the walk: mixed. The woodland setting is peaceful, but far too busy for my liking. The first section (from point 1 to point 2) runs alongside a very unpleasant, busy road where cars drive fast. In the woods, it was a big disappointment: the lake and many of the paths are private or off-limits, making it impossible to get close to them. As for the terrain, the ground is sandy with steep ascents and descents. In wet weather, make sure you wear sturdy shoes or wellies, as well as one or two walking sticks for added comfort. Finally, note that there are two benches along the route, perfect for taking a break.
