Park in the Carrefour de Milon car park (not the castle car park, which is full).
To get there, we recommend driving through the magnificent Rhodon Valley, which connects the town of Saint-Lambert des Bois to the town of Chevreuse.
By car, head towards Milon-la-Chapelle. When you reach the village crossroads, head towards Chevreuse (ignore the dead end sign). At the top of the hill, you will find the Carrefour de Milon car park.
(S/E) Take the path between the trees, heading for plots 1 and 3 (numbers written on the trees in white on a green background, see photo). Continue for about 200 metres until you reach the start of the descent into the valley.
(1) Turn right and you will reach a three-way junction.
(2) At this point, turn left. Follow the path, which curves sharply to the right, until you reach a five-way intersection. Continue straight ahead until you reach a T-junction.
This route is recommended, especially in winter, as it offers a view of the Rhodon Valley through the leafless trees. In summer, as a shortcut, you can continue straight ahead to reach the next point.
(3) Turn left and continue straight ahead, ignoring all the paths on the left and descending into the valley, until you reach Chemin du Claireau, the name of the forest. Pass the forest house and Claireau. You will come out at the upper entrance to the village of Chevreuse.
(4) Take the road on the left, then turn right at the stop sign (do not go down to the left), then follow the signs for Château de la Madeleine to go to the Belvédère du Château.
(5) When leaving the château, you can fill your water bottle at the fountain for the next stage, which will be the sunniest part of the route.
From the viewpoint, retrace your steps and turn left onto Route de la Brosse (the name of the village at the end of this road).
At the first intersection, turn right onto Rue du Bois Saint-Martin. Save your water reserves for crossing the fields of the Madeleine plain. Leave Hautvilliers behind.
After the high-voltage power line connecting Élancourt to Villejust via Saint-Aubin, you will finally enter the shade.
Take the path on the right and follow it, continuing straight ahead, leaving those on the left. Return to the Carrefour de Milon car park (S/E).
