To get to Réal (the village where the walk starts), take the N116 to Mont-Louis, then take the D118 towards Puyvalador. After Formiguères, take the D32 to Réal and park just after the Pont de l’Aude.
(S/E) From the car park, head back north towards the lake to join the yellow-marked trail that branches off to the right. Enjoy the nature trail providing information on the flora and fauna along the route. Join the GRP® Tour du Capcir (red and yellow markings) further on.
(1) Continue straight ahead, following the GRP® path all the way as it takes you across Lac de Puyvalador via the dam. You’ll enter the charming, traditional village of Puyvalador. Walk past the Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste and reach the D118.
(2) Take extreme care when crossing the D118. Carry on straight ahead and, a few metres further on, leave the D32g to join the GRP® on the left. Cross the Rec Cirerol via a superb bridge and, further on, the River Galbe, which flows into Lake Puyvalador via the Pont des Molines, until you reach a junction.
(3) Leave the GRP® – which heads towards Espousouille – and turn left towards Réal. You will rejoin the D118
(4) Once again, take great care when crossing and take the path opposite which leads you onto the D32e.
(5) All you have to do is follow it to the left and cross the Pont de l’Aude to return to your car (S/E).
