Between Sauteyras and the village of Aydat, park in the car park on the edge of the D90, which has a picnic table and an information panel about the wetland.
Signposted "Autour du Lac" + blue signs
(S/E) Set off along the pavement towards Sauteyras, with the lake on your right. At the entrance to Sauteyras, continue along the main road that leads away from the lake, passing the restaurants, then turn right towards the tourist office and go through the gate.
(1) Opposite the tourist office, turn left onto the path, with the lake on your right. Further on, just at the entrance to the concrete ramp leading up to the road, take the narrow path on the right that runs closest to the lake. (If the path is flooded or damaged, continue along the ramp and then follow the road on the pavement.) At the end of the path, climb the stairs that lead to the road (it is not safe to continue along the narrow wall). Turn right and follow the road on the pavement.
(2) At the end of the green pavement railing, turn onto the path on the right, then turn right again between the tourist activity huts. Follow the path between the campsite and the lake, crossing two footbridges. You will come to a road.
(3) Follow it to the right, then immediately take a path on the right. You will come to a T-junction with a path marked GR®®.
(4) A short round trip on the path opposite will take you to a pretty spot on the banks of the Veyre.

(4) On the way back, follow the path on the left. Cross the Pont de l'Arche bridge over the Veyre. Further on, enjoy the view of the lake from the viewpoint (information panel).

(5) About a hundred metres after the viewpoint, leave all the markings and follow a path going up to the left. Further up, you will come to a T-junction.
(6) Turn right for about a hundred metres, then turn left at the "Piste Yves Lecalvez" sign on the right. You will reach a T-junction with a path marked GR®®.
GR®® markings
Turn left and continue to an intersection at the 949 m marker.
No markings
(7) Leave theGR®® and follow the path to the right around the hairpin bend. Join the D788 at the Pierre Longue menhir.
(8) Cross carefully and follow the path opposite.
(9) Turn onto the first path on the right and head towards the hamlet of Phialeix. At the T-junction at the entrance to the hamlet, turn right and head towards a crossroads.
(10) Go straight ahead between the cross and the bus shelter, then turn left onto Chemin du Lac. Follow this road, which further on becomes Chemin de Phialeix. This will take you to the hamlet of Poudure, where you will find the markings you followed at the start of the hike.

(11) At the intersection, opposite the Poudure signpost, turn left onto the small road that descends towards Aydat village. When you reach the main street, turn right and then immediately right again to arrive at Saint-Sidoine Church (open to visitors).
(12) Walk past the church on your left, then the sports field. Opposite the campsite entrance, turn left and follow the path through the marsh (information panels, observatories). The path leads to the car park (S/E).
