Notes

A forest walk suitable for families and/or beginners.
You can cycle from Salies-de-Béarn along the greenway that links Castagnède and passes through the Eiffel Point

Worth a visit

(S/E) Opposite, you can see the Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste: a church of Romanesque origin, as evidenced by the irregular arrangement of pebble courses on the side aisle walls, the upper parts of the nave and the chevet. In 1862, the bell-tower porch was built.
Places to see: the church, the panoramic view, the orientation table, the Gave d’Oloron, the Eiffel-style bridge, the Maysounabe lodge
Things to do: Take a short detour to the banks of the Gave, particularly by crossing the bridge, for a relaxing break or a picnic.
(S/E) Lunch at the traditional inn in the village of Castagnède. Remember to book by phone.
Picnic by the river at the Castagnède fishing spot.

At point 2, you can also continue to an altitude of 143 m, where you will be rewarded with a beautiful view of the Pyrenees across the field.

a lovely little walk
The trees have grown right in front of the orientation table – it’s lovely,
a shame about the view of the Basse-Pyrénées landscape
